Links of Interest to Veterans

Acronym Finder - A site that will explain Acronyms. This site explains all those capitalized letter combinations that mean something to the people who use them the most.

The National Archives - We take pride in preserving the records of those who have served and protected our nation. America's diplomatic and military records—from the Revolutionary to the Persian Gulf War—paint a vivid picture of heroism, inspiration and sacrifice.

Arlington National Cemetery - More than four million people visit the cemetery annually, many coming to pay final respects at graveside services, of which nearly 100 are conducted each week, Monday through Friday.

National Association of County Veterans Services Officers (NACVSO) - When you come into the County Veterans Services Office you will be referred to a service officer for assistance. The County Veterans Service Officer has a compassionate understanding of the problems, which confront veterans, widows, widowers, and children.

DC Military - A website that keeps up-to-date information about our Military and the latest news.

Elks National Veterans Service Commission - Our goal is to make the Elks the most visible force in voluntary service to our veterans. Hopefully this resource center will be useful in that quest.

Fisher House - Fisher Houses provide a warm, compassionate "home away from home" for military and veterans' families while a loved one is receiving care at major military or VA medical centers.

Home of Heroes - The nation's leading Web site for information about patriotism, the Medal of Honor and military history.

U.S. Department of Labor - Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS).

Medals and Decorations Online - Are you a Veteran? Or the next of kin of a Veteran? Do you have your (their) medals and other decorations? Do you want them? Follow this link and at the bottom right there is a link entitled eVetRecs. Click on it. On the next screen on the right you will see "Launch eVetRecs - Request Military Records". Click there and follow the instructions. It's quick, it's easy, and it's FREE.

National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP) - NVLSP is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to ensuring that our nation honors the pact made with our 25 million veterans. We serve these forgotten veterans through advocacy, education, litigation, training advocates who represent veterans, and publications.

The Military - An Essay... - This is an essay describing our Military personnel.

The Society of The Honor Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - is a non-profit association organized expressly for and wholly committed to protecting and enhancing the welfare and image of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the soldiers who stand guard, past and present.
